It’s made by layering slices of fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil leaves, then drizzling with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. This salad is a perfect appetizer or side dish, showcasing the vibrant flavors of summer.
Legend has it that the Caprese Salad was created to resemble the colors of the Italian flag, making it a patriotic dish as well as a delicious one.
Variations include adding ingredients like avocado, arugula, or a sprinkle of sea salt.

Ingredients:
- 4 ripe tomatoes
- 250g fresh mozzarella
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar ( we recommend Ponti Glaze Aceto Balsamico )
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Let’s Start:
- Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into 0.5cm ( 1/4 inch ) thick slices.
- Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter, alternating between them.
- Tuck basil leaves between the slices.
- Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
